The Wingate Centre

Established in 1988 and based in the heart of the Cheshire countryside is the Wingate Centre, home to the Wingate Special Children’s Trust, an independent Charity devoted to enriching the lives of children and young people with all levels of disability or who are disadvantaged.

At the Wingate Centre, we offer ‘special needs schools’, voluntary organisations and self help groups the opportunity of enjoying short term residential breaks through our specially equipped 22-bedroom accommodation catering for up to 50 guests, along with our wide range of specialist washing, bathing and toileting facilities.
Our centre also boasts a 7,000 square foot, fully equipped gymnasium, offering sport recreational facilities in an environment designed specifically with these children and young adults in mind.

The reputation of the Centre’s coaching staff and sport recreation facilities is spreading in the field of disabilities; the Centre has seen an increasing number of new groups using the Centre whilst retaining our regular clients who use us each week as part of their timetable.

Due to our specialist facilities at the Centre, we can cater for all types of disability, which includes the autistic spectrum, challenging behaviour and children with multiple and profound disabilities.

The need and demand for our Centre in Wrenbury is shown from the number of new groups that we have welcomed during 2009 along with our regular users. This demand is also reflected in the bookings for 2010 and onwards that have already been made!

It is thanks to the wonderful relationship that we have with Jones Sheridan and the ongoing support that they continue to provide to our Centre, that we have been able to continue with our Charity’s activities and also undertake improvements to our facilities and equipment over the winter months.

We have a number of events over the coming months which you may be interested in supporting with either attendance or sponsorship:

• Wingate Quiz – Friday 5th March 2010 at Nantwich Cricket Club. (£7 per person, 6 people per team) Light refreshments provided.
• Wingate Summer Ball – Saturday 12th June 2010 at Wrenbury Hall (£55 per person).
